Welcome Back!

Hello, my new Sophomores!

Welcome to English II! Here is the link to complete the student survey.

Survey

Remember, it IS a grade, and WILL be included in the gradebook.

It is important to put the correct email address for yourself and your parents. I would love to be able to put together a field trip this year (last year we went to the Holocaust Museum), so it is necessary to have a working email address for your parent.

If you have any questions, comment on this post or email me at KGAY1@houstonisd.org!

I'm glad to have you in my class!
-Ms. Gay

End of Year Stuff

In case you thought not doing the assignment on May 10 in Advocacy was a good idea and saw your grade plummet, here you go. You print it, you do an extended portion of the work, you get credit. View the timeline on pages 12-14, answer all the questions on pages 15-16 and complete the propaganda worksheets on page 18-23.

Now for the extra credit du jour:  pick your favorite rap song, copy the lyrics, and rewrite it with proper English (correct grammar, spelling, no slang/cursing).

Here's the sample outline for the Written Assignment for Survival in Auschwitz.

Extra Credit Assignment

UPDATE: Sorry it's so late in the break. Here's an extra credit assignment you may choose to do. It must be 100% complete and submitted to me (TYPED) by the end of the day Wednesday, March 20.

Research and find 5 articles about World War II. It can be in regards to Concentration Camps, the Nazi Party, war strategies, etc. Once you find the articles, cite them with MLA format (see research paper materials below) and provide a summary of each article. The summaries must be at least 2 paragraphs in length.

If you have questions, please comment or email me. You may submit your work via email, too.

Enjoy the rest of your Spring Break!
